About MetroAEG

Enhancing Learning and Enthusiasm for Arts & Education

MetroAEG, through its support of performance-based groups such as The Sunrisers Drum & Bugle Corps, enhances learning by providing extra-curricular arts education to the residents of Long Island regardless of their background and expertise level. Learning programs are dovetailed with, and provide enhancement to the band music programs in the secondary schools since they are often taught and/or coordinated by the same educators in these local school systems. Participants in arts-based group activities learn the importance of the individual in serving the needs of the group. Therefore enthusiasm for education is enhanced through focus on teamwork, fostering stronger social bonds and connection to music and learning.

Equal Opportunity

Inclusiveness - MetroAEG member organizations do not discriminate on the basis of age, race, religion, ethnicity or otherwise, when offering opportunities for participation.

Access to the Arts

No Prior Experience Necessary – While prior knowledge or training in music and/or dance is nice to have, we offer expert training to people of all skill levels, as well as those with none whatsoever.

Alternatives to Sports – MetroAEG welcomes youth and young adults of all backgrounds who are not necessarily suited to sports, but who also need an outlet for their physical, intellectual and creative energies and their desires to learn skills and be part of a group. Complementing the School Programs - High school students wishing to further enhance their music and performance skills and complement their school band’s curriculum obtain important skills and discipline in our programs. Many members of our instructional staff also teach music and performance at the high school and college level and what they teach here is directly transferable and applicable to the curriculum of the school programs.

Public Performances - Thousands of people in communities throughout Long Island and the Mideast states flock to the performances, parades, concerts, competitions, exhibitions etc. frequented by our member groups in search of cultural experiences and entertainment. MetroAEG works to organize and promote these public competitions, exhibitions and performances on Long Island and these events feature many different performing groups of differing musical styles from different areas of the East Coast.

Mission Statement

The goal of the Metropolitan Arts & Education Group is to enrich the lives of citizens of our communities by providing wholesome, arts-based, performance and educational opportunities to all involved, regardless of racial, gender or socio-economic background. MetroAEG is dedicated to facilitating access to the arts, and to providing youth and young adults with activities that instill pride, teamwork, motivation, leadership, self esteem and values that are carried back into the community in which they reside.
